This project is an attempt to record the history of Starsiege: Tribes through the statistics
of the matches/scrims/etc played throughout Tribe's history. It arose from a natural curiosity
to see not only individual performances by map, but also to see which players/teams truly are the
best.
Due to certain behaviours I see repeated, let me clear a few things up.
- This is NOT a collection of maps/matches where your team "owned".
- This is NOT a collection of maps/matches where YOU "owned".
- This is NOT a collection of maps/matches where your team did not lose.
If you have a match/scrim that you would like added and do not feel like giving me the maps where
you/your team did not do well in, then please do not ask me to add the match/scrim. This is
NOT
a showcase for "select" top performances, and I will not add anything unless you give me the full
set of maps.
If you would like your own ego boosting set of statistics where you "own", feel free to create your own
program to do all this, but it is not going to happen in mine.
This program originally started out as a replacement for BigBunny's MatchLogger. When I was in HT, Jaymz
showed me BigBunny's MatchLogger and asked if I could modify it to record more complete/accurate statistics
so he could get the stats from HT matches/scrims.
After working with BigBunny's code for a bit, I came to the conclusion that I just wouldn't be able to do
the things Jaymz wanted with what BigBunny had, so I scrapped the original code and wrote it from the ground
up.
After a month or so, it evolved to the (rather ugly, but functional) product seen here:
HT vs Severe on Simoom
It stayed the same for more than a few months, as I had not thought to do much else with it. After HT disbanded
due to lack of interest and our remaining core players moved to KoV, figgs saw the stats Jaymz would produce after
matches/scrims, and created a prototype database to hold the stats, seen here:
figgs original stats
I had been "thinking" about how interesting it would be to see the stats inside a database, and the possibilites
contained therin, but never had the desire to actually go through with it. When I saw figgs prototype, I got to
talking with Jaymz (again), and he convinced me to start work on a database to throw everything in to.
After coming up with a hierarchy to hold the data, I then started work on a system to read in my old stat sheets
into the new online database. It's of note to mention Clamsoda started developing one of his own in ASP as I was
creating mine, and we both helped eachother with ideas/etc on how better to make our programs.
From there, the project has largely stayed the same, usually involving Jaymz making 50 requests for features and
me doing about 2 of them. I'm still working (Read: Playing WarCraft 3) on different features that will hopefully
be added in time, but I think it's fluffed out enough to be ready for "public" release.
Now, while this project was coded entirely by me, it still could not have been completed without help from
others. I will attempt to add everybody here that helped along the way:
- First and foremost, Jaymz. Without him, NONE of this would have been made. 80% of the
ideas/drive that went into this was his. Additionally, I'd say close to 75% of the maps entered were
generated/entered by him. This project is as much his as it is mine.
- Next in line is Clamsoda. He is not only the funniest guy in all of tribes, but one of the best
cappers who continually makes even the best defense look retarded with his "newbie" routes. I'm not sure if
I would be playing tribes if Jaymz and Clamsoda weren't still here.
- FSB-SPY. When I first started looking for demos of
"Top" tribes to enter in the database, SPY was more than willing to send me his entire collection of demos,
many of which were from 5150's top matches. Without SPY's contribution, we would be missing a major portion
from one of the most dominating tribes to compete.
- Bourbon. Bourbon has entered most of the POE demos seen in the database, one of the more dominant tribes
to exist, staying even with teams such as 5150 and S3. A very valuable addition.
- SaiYaN. SaiYaN was kind enough to send Jaymz over 1gb of GBD/North$tar demos. While North$tar may
not be one of the more "respected" tribes, they were undoubtedly one of the top tribes to play the game.
SaiYaN later supplied a rather complete history of [tm]'s matches, which were an immense help.
- LordKermit. Kermit had a crappy selection of KoV demos that have helped prove statistically that
he is a cowboy.
- Deathball/Lotus. Much thanks to Deathball for belatedly supplying me with a healthy selection of
=S3= demos, one of the major tribes that we had next to no statistics for.
- sLaM. Thank you for allowing me to host all this on the 5150 web server. I will no longer have to put
up with people viewing pages and causing my computer to burp while in the middle of playing!
- SuperSlug. Endless source of )R( demos, I wish more people submitted like he does.
- Woohoo. He sent 400mb of GBD demos over his 26.4 modem, and is the best turreter I've seen!
- FSB-AO. My partner in crime.. f rocks, vea.
- Tribalwar.com. Without Tribalwar's large collection of vintage demos,
many important matches would have gone forgotten. Tribalwar's contribution has been priceless.
- GhosTeE. You're gay.
- $wank. You're cool.
- Rangkor. Rangkor has entered countles ReZ, nothing, and various other demos, in addition to picking up
any slack Jaymz and I have left (which is quite a bit in the past months).
- random. rands is the top player in the Australia/New Zealand/Singapore scene, and one of my best
Tribes friends.
Lastly, just to piss them off, I would like to say that Jaymz and RabidLeper are the two best players
I have ever seen in tribes, and I thank both for allowing me to play next to them (Jaymz especially).
If you would like to contribute demos to this project, please contact
Andrew or
Jaymz in #ht.
Note: To be considered an eligible set of demos to post, you MUST:
- Have the match date
- Have the match type (twl/ogl/scrim/etc)
- Have the FULL set of demos. No single maps, no submitting only the maps you won, etc.
- Observers demos are fine, as POV is of no importance.
If I haven't gotten any Wolfpack/NuTz demos by now, I most likely never will.
A big thanks goes to everybody who ever refused to send demos and later complained about a lack of
representation of their tribe(s) in the project (Thanks for that horrid demo vs Immune, LoLnOw!).
