What is this?
Many of you have seen and even downloaded the Team 5150 soundpack for Tribes. Compiled by sLaM, the soundpack has many extremely humorous sound clips from popular movies and T.V shows such as Saturday Night Live, Family Guy, Half Baked, Tommy Boy, Next Friday, and so on.

This, my friends, is the mIRC conversion of the soundpack. Why keep your enjoyment of these wonderful clips to just Tribes, when you can spam your life away while idling in IRC as well!

How the f**k do I get/install it?
mIRC Install guide

There are a few steps you will need to go through to get everything working.
  1. First off, you need to have a copy of the sound pack. If you have a copy in your Tribes\base\voices\ directory (aka you have already downloaded it), you may skip to step 2.

Note: The pack weighs in at 259mb, so if you're on a slower connection you may want to use a download manager.

    Download the Soundpack!

Now you will need to Install it for Tribes.

  2. Next, you will need to extract all of the .wav files in the soundpack to your mIRC\sounds\ directory. This may be done by downloading and running Volumer.

Start the volumer program up. (If Volumer gives you an error, just click ok or whatever and ignore the error - this program can get flakey like that, just IGNORE it.) Now navigate the left side (where it says Source up top) to your Tribes\Base\Voices folder. You should see the 5150.vol file pop up in the Volume list section. Click on it. When you do, you should now see a bunch of .wav files appear on the Volume Content section. Now on the bottom right you should see a box that says, "Mark all". Click that. When you do you should see that all of the .wav files above are now highlighted. And now finally in the last section, you need to navigate to where you will be extracting these sounds. In my case it is D:\mirc\sounds, most users will use C:\mirc\sounds.
Now....all you have to do is click the Extract button underneath all of the highlighted .wav files. It will extract every sound you need to your sounds folder so you can enjoy the soundpack.

  3. Take the 5150.mrc and put it in your \mirc folder and load mIRC (if it isn't already running). Once it's up and running, type:
    /load -rs 5150.mrc
  4. When you do this, a message box will appear that says:

"One or more scripts have been loaded
    that include initialization commands.

    Run the initialization commands?

You should click 'No' if you don't know
    what this script does."

    CLICK YES.

  5. Finally, make sure mIRC is set up correctly to play the sounds. This includes making sure mIRC will actually play a sound and turning "ignore request if sound is already playing" OFF, so you get the full effect of the pack.

  6. How does it work?

Spamming, err using, this soundpack is rather simple once it is installed and configured. Simply Right-Click in any channel/private message window and a new option will be in your popup menu as "5150 Soundpack". Navigate this menu to the clip you would like to use and click!

  7. OK, It's installed, WTF do I do with it?

Occasionaly you may have times when you don't want to hear people using their sounds, such as watching a movie on your computer at extremely high volume. To enable/disable the sounds, right click in a channel/private message window and click "CTCP Sound On" or "CTCP Sound Off" to toggle the pack on/off respectively.

After all of this you should be ready to go for your soundpack. Just right click in a room you're in and you'll seea huge list come up of for all the sounds there are. Enjoy.

Tribes Install Guide

First time 5150 sound pack installers:

Download the 5150 Soundpack and extract the 5150.vol file into your Tribes\base\voices directory. Then download the 5150.cs file and put it in your Tribes\config folder. Start up Tribes, and where you choose your player (their voice, male/female, etc) find the line that says Custom Script. Type this: 5150

THAT'S IT. Just 5150

You should be done. If you are a new user and have the problem where you can hear the sounds but you can't see the chat menu when you hit v, make sure you are not running your video in anything less than 800x600. If you are, you will not be able to see the menu. Tribes likes to hide the chat menu completely if the v chat text scrolls off the screen.

Current 5150 Soundpack Users:

Pretty easy for you guys. Download the 5150 Soundpack and extract the 5150.vol file into your Tribes\base\voices directory. Then download the 5150.cs file and replace your old 5150.cs with this one (if you used the old 5150.cs - if not then I'm sure you can figure out what to do with it). Go ahead and delete the following files (if you have them)

  • addon.vol
  • addon2.vol
  • Ferrell.vol
It's OK to delete these files. The 5150.vol is ALL of my soundpacks stuck into one neat file. I would tell you to delete the male2.vol but you *need* that for the normal male2 sounds. Hopefully this is all the help you nerds need. :p

ENJOY TRICCS!
